Watching Things Fall Apart

I had the honour of addressing the audience of the Institut Français du Design 2019 International Interior Design Awards, held at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris on December 6.

It was a bit of a battle getting there, as the French unions had decided to close down all rail services and public transport on the day. I think it was probably a protest about the content of my speech. But they didn't manage to stop me.

As you can hear from this brief clip, it was a miserable old sermon I delivered. Nothing upbeat. Just a lot of whinging about everything being too perfect for my liking.

Anyway, on observing some of the winning work, I have to say that my miserable tone was going rather against the tenor of the night, and everyone probably breathed a deep sigh of relief when the talking stopped and the champagne was cracked open...
