featured works:
Minotaur
console
The Minotaur, solitary and outcast - yet noble and dignified, is channeled through this hefty yet elegant console table. Reminiscent of a fine antique, this powerful piece of statement furniture is hand-carved and constructed from recycled scaffolding planks, with sand-cast bronze stiletto hooves and nose-ring - tied up with a frayed length of reclaimed rope. .
It belongs to the series Imagined Creatures: art furniture works which embody the narrative resonances found in antiques and historical artefacts.
The sculpting and hand-forming processes, and flawed nature of the raw materials, are celebrated and expressed; and processes of ageing and decay are encouraged - becoming an integral part of the work.
